IDD Services
At Alternative Behavioral Concepts, we want to build communities where people get the help they need olive the life they choose. We believe in helping people with intellectual developmental disabilities be apart of the community where they want to live. People with disabilities belong in our neighborhoods, workplaces and social activities.

About one in six children in the United State has an intellectual developmental disability, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. These diagnoses such as cerebral palsy, autism or Down syndrome - usually last a lifetime. ABC supports individuals with IDD diagnosis in where they choose to live, how they spend their day, how to be apart of the community and how to live more independently.

Together with members, providers and partners, we work toward healthy, rewarding lives for all the people we serve. We serve both children and adults through the N.C. Innovations waiver and other services.

Mental Health
Mental health disorders affect people from all walks of life. They're more common than you might think - in one year alone, more than 18 percent of American adults experienced mental illness such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders or schizophrenia. Fortunately, mental health disorders are treatable, and recovery does happen. Recovery does not mean a disorder disappears.

Rather, recovery is " process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life an strive to reach their full potential," according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Recovery focuses on the whole person. It includes managing symptoms, having a safe place to live, taking part in meaningful daily activities and building relationships with other people. many people with mental health disorders live healthy, fulfilling lives.
